Show and Booth FAQ

What types of special events do you have?
Mad Science has special events that can fit any type of event that you are hosting. Our special events can take the form of shows, science days and fairs and science booths with or without take-home projects.

How do I know what kind of event to book?
It depends on the number of children you're looking to accommodate and the type of audience you have.
  • Show - Best for groups of 50 to 500 children in a sit-down program.  We are able to call up several volunteers, although there is no take-home included.
  • Booth - A good fit for groups of children rotating through in 8 - 10 minute intervals with or without a take-home project.  Depending on the type of booth, we can accommodate between 10 - 12 children per rotation.
  • Workshop - An excellent fit for smaller groups of between 25 and 35 children. Each child will go home with a take-home project and have many opportunities to experiment with equipment.
  • Birthday Party without a birthday child - Works best for groups of between 10 and 20 children including a take-home for each child.
How many children can a show accommodate?
Between 50 and 500 children at a time. We can adjust our shows to the size of your venue and to fit your budget.

How long does a show last?
On average, our shows last 60 minutes, but we can adjust the length to fit your program objectivies. Science days, fairs and booths can be packaged as full day events.

What kind of space is best suited to a Mad Science Special Event?
For a show, an ideal event location would be an area with an open space for the children to sit on the floor.  Booths work well if there is an open area in front of the booth for the children to line up if there is a crowd.  Mad Science shows generally work best when held indoors. However, they can be performed outdoors, weather permitting, where shelter from the wind can be provided.

When will the Mad Scientist arrive at my event?
Expect your Mad Scientist to arrive approximately 30 minutes before our start time. Please designate a site person to direct your Mad Scientist to the performance area. As well, for large events, a reserved parking space near the venue will make unloading equipment for your event more efficient and timely.

Do we need to provide Mad Science with any equipment?
For each scheduled show and activity station, we will require an 8-foot long banquet-style table on which to place our equipment. Depending on the show you select, we may need access to an electrical outlet and/or access to water.

Will we require additional staff for clean-up after the event?
No, our events are mess free! We clean-up after ourselves when we’re finished. The Mad Scientist will need about 30 minutes time for packing and cleaning-up after the event.

How long in advance should I begin to plan for a Mad Science event?
As soon as possible! Mad Science special events are in great demand; we suggest that you book your date as soon as possible.
